Eleven Colors is a small boutique in Paris, France, and during my short stay in Europe my teacher scheduled a chance for our group to go there. We were exclusive enough to sneak in the back way up into one of their work rooms and walk up a very narrow hallway to meet Golnaz Khazei, former designer for Givenchy and current head designer for Eleven Colors. Now we were in her work space filled with color swatches, books, scissors, hangers, you name it.
For a few hours we got to hang out with Golnaz as she told us her story. I was so consumed that my eyes couldn't focus. They were bouncing all over the room trying to capture and remember everything, because I knew one day she would be a top named designer. Her work was impeccable.
Once we left the studio/store, I had to do a report on our little adventure. I chose to write about her creative mind. She focuses strongly on rock n' roll and pushing the limits, like making skirts for men. Not only can she push the limits, but she has the skills to back it up. She worked with Givenchy for years, mastering the technical skills of menswear. My favorite quote from her is, "Women will wear anything. If it's in style and trendy, it doesn't matter if it's not comfortable." So true... why do we do this?
